When I look at Geodesic it is a company which is actively innovating. It believes in providing products which are beneficial to the consumers and is not just following the herd of IT service providers. Past Financial Track Record-
Geodesic has displayed extremely strong fundamentals over the years. For the last 9 years it has had a Net Sales Growth Rate of 164.73%. It has maintained its year on year EPS growth above 12% for the last 7 years. It has even maintained its BVPS above 12 % year on year for the last 6 years.
Green – Greater than 12% YoY
Red – Less than 10% YoY
Simply tabulated in the table above we can see the company’s performance at a glance. Further Geodesic has also had a Return on Invested Capital of 15.72% last year. It is a company which has consistently given dividends, with the highest dividends announced in February this year of 40%.
Risks/Concerns-
The company has a Debt/Net Profit ratio of 4.60 which is quite high from a value investing point of view. They are also in an expansion mode so only time can evaluate their decisions. However the management has said their long term investments have yet to perform so this ratio may reduce in time.
Future Prospects-
Instant messaging is a rapidly expanding mode of real-time communication across the world. The global messaging market, which was $65 billion in 2007, is predicted to touch $117 billion by 2012 according to Portio Research. A more recent report also states that Mobile Instant Messaging, which generated $2.5 billion in 2008, is expected to increase to $12.4 billion by 2013.
Geodesic is targeting 82% of the 1.2 Billion users who are using Instant Messengers. They have just opened the markets for India. As the cost of international SMS goes up sending messages via Mundu their primary product will be much cheaper.
They are trying to explore the developing world and countries that have not been explored by most companies in India. They did an acquisition in Uruguay again to cater to the Latin American market.
Geodesic seems to have a far reaching vision, their speed of innovation is something which will enable them to stay ahead. In the IT sector talent is the most important resource and Geodesic has managed to control their attrition very well.
